BBI is the first bank, both in BiH and Southeast Europe, to operate in accordance with Islamic finance principles. It began operations on 19th October 2000 in its Sarajevo headquarters. It is focused on the development of Bosnia and Herzegovina and invests all profits in the country.

IDB, which is owned by 57 member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and is the largest owner of BBI Bank, has been AAA (triple A) rated by the world’s leading rating agencies for the last 14 years. A triple A rating is given only to the best and safest financial institurions.
BBI Bank’s assets increased from KM 144 million in 2006 to KM 1.49 billion by the end of 2021. BBI Bank marked its business results in 2022 with an above-average growth in market share according to profitability indicators and strategic client segments. In 2022, BBI Bank achieved a business result of 14.7 million KM, i.e. a growth of 356% compared to the official results of the previous year. We are one of the few banks on the Bosnian market that reached this size through organic growth, which enabled us to build a unique corporate culture and value system. BBI operates in 32 branches throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina and with more than 150 ATMs within the BH ATM network. The BBI ATMs network is the third in order of number of ATMs in FBiH.

Since 2010, BBI bank has been organizing the Sarajevo Business Forum, an international investment conference that has gained a worldwide reputation and put Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region on the investment map of the world.
