BBI Bank is proud to announce its support for the publication of the book “The Spirit of the Bosnian Rug”, authored by Amila Smajović.
This important work is the first book dedicated to Bosnian rugs, and it represents a comprehensive study that analyzes the artistic and communicative aspects of Bosnian rugs on 416 pages.
Amila Smajović explores the geometric motifs and symbols of carpets, their historical origins and different names, deciphering their meanings and connecting them to universal themes. The book is the result of her nearly three-decade-long research and offers a new perspective of observing the Bosnian carpet, which, in addition to its decorative role, is a symbol of spiritual expression and tradition.
“The spirit of the Bosnian rug” is a visually rich book that contains plenty of photos of Bosnian rugs and drawn geometric motifs. Its importance lies in the unification of anthropological, ethnographic, artistic and communication approaches in the study of one of the most important elements of the intangible cultural heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The book will be of great use to researchers, students, art lovers, as well as to all those who wish to gain a deeper understanding of the cultural values or cultural codes of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
BBI Bank recognizes the Bosnian carpet as an inexhaustible source of knowledge and inspiration, which through cultural, historical, ethnological, religious and spiritual aspects represents a key element of Bosnian and Herzegovina’s cultural heritage.
