German businessmen interested in renewable energy sources and innovation

The 11th Sarajevo Business Forum on the topic “Nearshoring – a perspective for the region” will be held on May 11 and 12 in Sarajevo, and there is increasing interest from foreign businessmen in participating in this year’s Forum. After the successful presentations of Sarajevo Business Forum in Bahrain, Norway and Jordan, SBF was presented in Germany. The visit to Germany and German institutions was held as part of the visit of the delegation from Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.

As part of the visit, representatives of Bosna Bank International (BBI) visited and held meetings with the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (DIHK), the Federal Union of German Employers’ Associations (BDA), the Union of Medium-sized Entrepreneurship and Economy (MIT), the Central Association of German Crafts (ZDH). , the energy company E.ON., the Brandenburg State Investment Bank (ILB), the Ministry of Infrastructure and Spatial Planning of the State of Brandenburg and the Parliament of the State of Brandenburg, and the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW) and others.

“Germany is a significant investor and the most important trade partner of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and after the meetings held with German institutions and organizations, new opportunities for cooperation between Bosnian and German businessmen opened up. They showed the greatest interest in the energy sector, more specifically in renewable energy sources, tourism, and the production sector,” said Elma Agić-Šabeta, Director of the Risk Control Sector of BBI Bank.

At the 11th Sarajevo Business Forum, participation was also announced by Dr. Volker Treier, member of the Board of DIHK (German Chamber of Commerce and Industry), who will address the audience on the subject of Nearshoring, and the perspectives of Southeast Europe in the context of shifting production to the countries of SE Europe and the impact of the war in Ukraine on the mentioned economic flows. dr. Volker Treier is an extremely respected German macroeconomist, often present in the German media, and since 2019 he is the Executive Director for Foreign Trade and a member of the Executive Board of the DIHK, which is the umbrella institution of all international German chambers of commerce.

Apart from Dr. Volker Treiera, participation in this year’s Forum was also announced by Olga Zijverden, Project Manager DIHK (German Chamber of Industry and Commerce), Sophia Kluge, Chamber Partnership Western Balkans, Martin Gaber, Director of Germany Trade and Invest for the Western Balkans, and Amra Šurković, AHK, Bosnia and Herzegovina, who will be panelists and presenters on the topic “Nearshoring” on the second day of the 11th SBF.
