Sarajevo will once again serve as a hub for international exchange of knowledge and expertise in the halal industry. On June 9–10, 2026, the Hotel Hills will host the 4th European Halal Congress—one of the most significant professional events dedicated to the halal market in Europe. The event is supported by BBI Bank as the Gold Sponsor, reaffirming its commitment to the development of the halal industry and sustainable business practices.
The Congress is organized by the Agency for Halal Quality Certification, in cooperation with Halal Control GmbH, the Faculty of Islamic Studies at the University of Sarajevo, the Faculty of Technology at the University of Tuzla, and the Association for Nutrition and Dietetics “Food for Health,” with the support of SMIIC/OIC, the Halal Quality Certification Center from Croatia, and FINRA University Tuzla.
This prestigious international gathering will bring together more than 30 speakers from 20 countries worldwide, including leading experts, representatives of certification bodies, institutions, companies, and academia. Over the course of the two-day program, the latest trends, innovations, and challenges in the global halal industry will be presented.
The program includes nine thematic sessions and two panel discussions covering key topics such as standardization and certification, food safety, integrity of the halal supply chain, sustainability, digitalization, and the development of business models. A special segment on the first day will be a meeting of European halal certification bodies aimed at establishing a joint association.
The 4th European Halal Congress represents a unique platform for connecting academia, regulatory institutions, and the business sector, creating opportunities for new partnerships and strengthening international cooperation.
